About the RMTA:  The RMTA was established by the Virginia General Assembly to build and operate a variety of public facilities and offer public services, especially transportation related, within the Richmond metropolitan area, each of which is operated and financed solely by user fees. We have employees throughout the organization who have been with us from three months to forty-five years!

About the Role:  The Director of Operations develops long-term operational strategies to meet the Authority’s objectives.  This role requires progressively responsible operations management expertise needed to oversee preliminary engineering, contract administration, construction monitoring and roadway maintenance.  As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role assists in overseeing the general operation of the Authority and collaborates on strategic planning. 

Background in project management, preferably in the transportation field, needed.  Ideal candidates will possess project management experience under the direction of the Virginia Department of Transportation or equivalent entity, and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, managing budgets and overseeing program implementation.  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in civil or structural engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.  The candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of managing multi-disciplinary plan, policy, design and construction projects, preferably related to transportation. Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred, as well as experience in tolling.  Strong communication skills and demonstrated experience with software in a Windows environment is required.
